TAA procurement
E10G-HL9 is listed by MagStor as TAA compliant. For purchases with Trade Agreements Act requirements, ask MagStor for model-specific documentation and confirmation of the exact supplied configuration before ordering.
Review the exact hardware configuration and procurement documentation against your purchasing requirements; accessories and added devices do not automatically inherit the drive’s status.
Built around your workflow
ePro presents an LTO tape device over a dedicated 10GbE iSCSI workflow. One supported workstation or server has exclusive access to the tape device at a time. Network connectivity does not make ePro a NAS or shared file server; it does not provide SMB/NFS file sharing. The product listing includes single- and dual-drive SKUs, so drive count and mixed-generation upgrades require configuration-specific planning.
Model-specific capabilities
Dedicated wired 10GbE iSCSI connectivity.
One host has exclusive tape-device access. Other hosts cannot access the drive until that host releases it.
Windows/Linux and macOS require their supported initiator, driver and application combinations.
The product supports compatible internal SAS LTO additions; use a validated enclosure configuration and installation process.
Provide dedicated wired 10GbE networking and a host with compatible iSCSI tape-device support. Confirm the network port/media and supported topology for the exact ePro SKU.
The product lists Microsoft iSCSI Initiator on Windows and standard Linux iSCSI tools. macOS requires a separate compatible ATTO initiator; the listing says it is available at a discount, not included.
The supported application must use the tape device through the complete iSCSI/SCSI stack. Confirm connection and release procedures and single-host access. ePro does not provide concurrent SMB/NFS file sharing.
1GbE and Wi-Fi are not supported for the ePro tape-data connection. Use the required wired 10GbE path and measure sustained throughput; a network link specification does not guarantee a tape-job rate.
Confirm the installed LTO mechanism, drive count and any mixed-generation SAS upgrade. Keep the completed enclosure ventilation clear. Internal additions require a validated actively cooled installation and suitable integration.
Backup/archive software and any required initiator licensing need separate confirmation. Maintain balanced source storage, host and application performance; confirm software licensing separately.

Offline by design
LTO uses removable cartridges for long-term backup and archive copies. After writing and verifying your data, eject the cartridge and store it separately from connected systems. This physical separation supports air-gapped retention, offsite rotation and protection from threats that reach online storage.
Keep physical control of retained data without recurring cloud capacity charges for those tape copies.
Media is designed for a shelf life of up to 30 years under recommended storage conditions. Follow the cartridge’s handling and storage guidance.
For procurement that requires TAA compliance, confirm the required configuration with MagStor before ordering.
Understand the connection
Dedicated iSCSI tape storage over wired 10GbE, with block-level tape-device access for one workstation or server at a time.
A supported computer or server has exclusive tape-device access through its iSCSI initiator, tape driver and application. Other hosts cannot access the drive until it is released.
Network connectivity provides access to a tape device. It does not make ePro a shared file server or provide shared storage, SMB/NFS file shares or simultaneous multi-host tape access.
Use the supported wired 10GbE network and initiator stack. See Additional requirements for network restrictions.
Main features
Unload verified media to retain a physically offline copy separate from the connected host.
Choose compatible software for the required file-based archive or managed backup workflow.
Plan cartridge labeling, catalogs, verification and periodic restore tests.
Match the drive, interface, host, drivers, software and media format as one workflow.
Use the supported enclosure and installation requirements for this exact configuration.
Contact MagStor with the SKU and serial number for setup, firmware and troubleshooting questions.
Media and capacity
| Cartridge | Native capacity | Support |
|---|---|---|
| LTO-9 | 18TB | Read / write |
| LTO-8 | 12TB | Read / write |
Capacities are per cartridge. Confirm the exact installed generation for dual or mixed-generation configurations. Compression depends on the data; use native capacity for planning.
Choose software for your workflow
Any backup, archive or LTFS application that supports the drive’s LTO generation and host configuration can be used, even if it is not listed here. Confirm support for your operating system, interface, drivers and media format; licensing and setup requirements still apply.
Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, Arcserve and Retrospect are examples to evaluate for the complete configuration.
XPNTL Solo, Hedge Canister, Archiware P5, YoYotta, XenData, myLTO and compatible LTFS tools are examples, not a certification list.
ePro requires compatible iSCSI tape access and its supported initiator/driver stack. A macOS initiator is separate; do not assume it is included.
